In May, mindyourmind travelled to Montreal for our first in-person Design Lab since COVID! To say we were excited would be an understatement. We had a chance to explore the city and enjoy its culture before getting hard at work. For this Design Lab, we partnered with The Refugee Centre. We were so thankful for their hospitality and look forward to working with them again in the future!
Along with the Refugee Centre, we worked with ten newcomer youth. These youth were amazing individuals and advocates for their communities. Their resilience and creativity truly inspired us! Together, we played games, participated in art and wellness-based activities, and explored mental health topics and marketing. As a team, we decided to create wellness flashcards – a first for mindyourmind! These flashcards will have relevant wellness tips on them and space to colour.
After the three-day design lab, we sadly had to fly home to London. But that wasn’t the end, only just the beginning. We continued to meet with the youth for three Zoom sessions. These meetings focused on the card design and planning for a launch event!
We are so excited to see the finished product, and we hope you are too!
Follow us next month for more updates and information about the work we do and the adventures we get up to.
