This month we would like to highlight two more of our amazing partners! We want to highlight the work of the HeartWood Centre for Community Youth Development and Laing House, both of Halifax, NS. We had our final webinar with the Halifax group and our work is complete, as a result we thought this would be a great time to send them a giant THANK YOU!
The HeartWood Centre for Community Youth Development is a community youth development organization. Their mission is to empower youth to see themselves as leaders so that they share their passion and knowledge with the broader community. They do this by providing youth leadership training but also providing youth engagement training to professionals working with youth. HeartWood also has an extensive library of resources that can be used while working with youth. Be sure to check them out!
Our second partner in Halifax was Laing House. Laing House is a drop in centre for people 16-29 living with a mood disorder, psychosis or anxiety disorder. The primary location is in Halifax but they have satellite locations in Yarmouth and Sackville. They have a wide range of programs and supports for people struggling with their mental health.
Both HeartWood and Laing House were instrumental in making our Halifax design studio a success! Be sure to check them out if you’re in the Halifax region.
On the other side of the country, the Squamish team was busy preparing for their Youth Leadership Summit. The summit was held on May 27th at the Cheakamus Centre in Paradise Valley. The group organized team building activities and inspiring presentations. We will be meeting for a final webinar shortly, the purpose of the webinar is to debrief about the project and celebrate its success.
The Windsor group has been planning how they will disseminate the book and the quiz. The mindyourmind team is busy preparing the book. The quiz is complete and will be posted online shortly.
Finally, we are very excited to announce that we will be to Arviat, Nunavut at the end of June! We are working with Nunavut Department of Health and are in preparation mode. Stay tuned for more updates!
