CSC Adventures: March 2019 Update

March has flown by and we are relieved that spring is finally here! The mindyourmindteam has been very busy with the exciting Canada Service Corps initiatives.

Congrats to the Squamish youth team, who were successful in receiving a #RisingYouth grant. This group will be hosting a Youth Leadership Summit during British Columbia Youth Week, the event will be on May 27th. The summit is designed to inspire and educate youth on how to improve and promote mental health and wellness in their community. The attendees will learn about the MIND resources which they will be able to then share with their peers. The day will consist of leadership focused workshops and experiential activities as well as have engaging speakers and panelists.

Moving to the east coast, the Halifax group hosted their launch event on March 30th at the Zatsman Arena. The event was a success! The Anchor Books were distributed to community members and the videos were presented for the first time. To celebrate this success and wrap up we will be hosting a final webinar in the next few weeks.

The Windsor group are well on their way! We returned for a visit with the team during March Break to review our progress so far. We had the group review content for the work book, look at the mock-ups for the quiz and we discussed promotion of the materials in more detail.

In other exciting news the Youth Secretariat is hosting The Canada Youth Summit in Ottawa on May 2nd-3rd. We nominated five youth to attend, two from Halifax and three from Windsor. They are very excited to be our mindyourmind ambassadors!

Finally, we are in talks with community partners in two regions to set up our fourth and fifth design labs. Stay tuned for more exciting details!
