January has flown by, probably because we’ve been hard at work! If you’re just joining us get up to date on the Canada Service Corps project here.
The mindyourmind team has been busy putting the finishing details on the Anchor workbook for the Halifax, NS group. This workbook focuses on tangible self-care strategies and general mental health information. It is fun and engaging, it has coloring pages and interesting journal prompts sprinkled throughout. The youth team are busy planning the book launch for the Halifax community.
Our Squamish, BC group is progressing nicely. We are awaiting some translation to be complete, once that is finished all the tools will be ready to share. In the meantime the mental health trivia game, MIND, is available here in French, English and Punjabi. The youth are working with the Sea to Sky Community Services – Squamish Youth Resource Centre to plan a resource launch in the spring.
We were also busy prepping for our Windsor, ON design studio, in partnership with Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. We can’t wait to see what the Windsor youth will want to create for their community.
In other exciting news, we were invited to Parliament Hill to share our project! One of the youth participants from the Halifax group, Hannah, was able to join us for the day and talk about her involvement with the project. We got to connect with many MP’s from across the country and it was an invaluable experience.Check out some pictures from this day in the gallery.
Stay tuned for next month’s update as there is way more to come!
